The greatest blockage to spiritual growth is to deny to yourself that an essential part of you IS spirit.

The second greatest blockage, I believe, is to deny that there is an absolute GOOD to grow toward.

I believe self discipline is the greatest. I dont think for a second that once you get saved you have been saved for 40 years that you always will and always want to read the word of God or that when you get saved sin and problems go away. Its takes self discipline and mainley the help of the Holy Spirit to prevail in spiritual growth. Commitment is very tough and i know for myself it is. Great question.

People/peers can be really bad for your spiritual growth. You can get caught up in what others think and you will always tend to become like the people around you. If you have bad friends, your spiritual growth is going to stop.

Definately pride. When we begin to fear man more than God, we are really delayed because we stop listening to what he's telling us and give into peer pressure.
Also, a lack of prayer and scripture study. As long as you're reading your scriptures and talking with God on a regular basis, even though troubles may arise, you will progress.
Also, not to progress is a block. Not to look for more. We don't really stay in one place when it comes to spiritual growth. We are either moving forwards or backwards. I think it's better to move forward, don't you?

the religous leaders and churches out there in our world today. When a church becomes a business it no longer is working for there god they say they worship. And if people really step back and listen to what these preachers/pastors/ministers are saying it is more about getting others to join them then to teach what there bibles and/or books say. And now we have churches where some people are not aloud to attend because of there race or who they love....When we are born and have a childs mind we do not hate anyone or anything it is only when we strat to grow up in the world we thee adult have created that we learn hate...

Ego. The belief/feeling that your own needs, ideas, etc. are the most important thing in the universe. The hindus call it "maya," illusion; the Christians call it original sin.

Not recognizing and accepting your own bliss.
When you look to others, or a specific religion they can only guide you, they cannot give you the spiritual growth you seek. (and some of their guidance can be downright un-helpful in your own path.)

Organized religion. It has people think in one direction, causes friction, fosters hatred and stifles creativity within a pretense of spirituality.
