I told a guy that I wasn't interested in going out with men right now because I needed sometime to figure out why my old relationship didn't work. I told him that he was very tall, dark and handsome which is usually the kind of guy that gets me in trouble. I didn't mean that I didn't like him but he got real distant and told me maybe I should meet other people...etc. I didn't expect him not to call again but he hasn't.

You told him how you felt. There is nothing wrong with that. It's his lost not yours.

You played the "Let's just be friends" card by mistake... BIG OOPS! I would have taken it that way. A lot of men won't contact a woman again when he is told something like that, because there is no use pursuing someone that doesn't want to have a relationship with him. It would be a waste of my time and "there are other fish in the sea". You could try calling the guy and explaining exactly what you meant and maybe he will call you again Don't forget to apologize!

First of all, what does this new guy have to do with your old relationship?
Nothing.
And also, just because a tall guy with dark hair gets you into trouble, does not mean all tall men with dark hair are trouble.
We can apply this situation...all blonds are stupid? No, a relationship does not form between two like qualities. Maybe a likeness, but that does not mean "A" will cause "B".

Damn, if he is hot, nice, likes you...give this man a chance...he is not asking for a relationship right off, that take time. So give him some. Call him up.....and go for it. if you don't like him, be friends.

Well, its a waste hesitating on something you like. There is no right time to be with a person, but its ALWAYS the right time. Youll never what will happen to the future. If opportunity comes, you must go for, because youll never know...

I dont think you messed up, I think you just sent him in hiding for a bit. I'm sure he's thinking that maybe space is what you need (which it is, right?) and he'll just be playing hard to get for now. Maybe you should tell him that you sent him the wrong message and tell him what you really need from him.

there could be a few reasons he did not call. perhaps he figured out you were not emotionally available, that you were seeking only one type which he felt he did not measure up to your standards or figured you two were on two separate pages of life at this juncture in time. if you want to see him again, it looks as though you will have to initiate the first move.

You turned him off by saying that he was the kind of guy that got you in trouble. He took you literally. You goofed. Move on.

No offense, but what did you expect him to think after what you said? I dunno...chalk it up to a foot in the mouth and let it go. He was probably quite insulted.
