2 and a half days. I worked 2 jobs, my first one started at 6 am, and my last one ended at 3:30 am. this went on for two and a half days. On my drive home, finally, I actually started falling asleep at the wheel and hallucinating. Scary stuff.

I was 16 and was at a summer program at Cornell University in my Junior Year of HS. I stayed up for 5 days straight. They had this cola called Jolt Cola which claimed to have 2x the amount of caffeine as Coca Cola and I was taking Vivarin caffeine pills too. After 3 days I started to hallucinate. I swear on the 5th day the floors and walls looked like they were moving. You walk inside this daze. Near the end I just wanted to push myself to the brink to see how far I could go. I thought I had to sleep for 3 days to recover, but I slept for about 12 hours afterward. Much of that time is a blur, but after that experience I never tried pushing myself without sleep- you pay for it later.

there grow to be this test/international checklist element finished. "it is often claimed that Gardner's test shown that extreme sleep deprivation has little effect, different than the temper transformations linked with tiredness (temper swings, short temper, loss of concentration). it is greater often than not via a rfile by utilising researcher William Dement, who pronounced that on the 10th day of the test, Gardner have been, between different issues, able to beat Dement at pinball. whether, Lt. Cmdr. John J. Ross who monitored his well being pronounced extreme cognitive and behavioral transformations. those coated moodiness, problems with concentration and short term reminiscence, paranoia, and hallucinations. on the fourth day he had a delusion that he grow to be Paul Lowe triumphing the Rose Bowl, and that a street sign grow to be a guy or woman. on the 11th day, while he grow to be asked to subtract seven persistently, beginning with one hundred, he stopped at sixty 5. while asked why he had stopped, he spoke back that he had forgotten what he grow to be doing. On his very final day devoid of sleep, Gardner presided over a press convention the place he spoke devoid of slurring or stumbling his words and often gave the impression to be in incredible well being. "i had to instruct that undesirable issues did no longer ensue in case you went devoid of sleep," pronounced Gardner. "i presumed, 'i'm able to ruin that (Peter Tripp's 1959) checklist and that i do no longer think of it would be a unfavorable journey."
