Hi, My name is Eunice Saunders. This a good question and I know the answer! The rapture that your speaking of is not in the Bible at all!! When Jesus comes again he will not be landing on the earth. The sky will roll up like a scroll, the "dead in Christ" will awaken and the we who are "alive in Christ" shall rise to meet him in the air. All the rest will be destroyed by the Glory of his comming! They, that are left will sleep until the 1000 years of judgement ends and then they shall awaken for the finial judgement when Jesus will return with all the saints and the New Jerusalum comes down from heaven. You can find these verses in the Bible! 1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The whole book of Revelation is about the rapture. There is too much to narrow it down to one verse. If you make the question more specific, I'll give a specific answer.

You can check the Apocalypse... or Revelations (last book of the New Testament)

For kicks... read the entire thing...

And by the way, the Bible is not to be taken literally, it was written in metaphores, and relevant to the time they were written.

It doesn't. Some 19th century preacher "extrapolated" the rapture from his own interpretation of the Bible and preached it himself.
