My school forces us to take 2 language courses to get an associates degree. I tried Spanish but found it not interesting. I was considering German since it is a Germanic language like English so maybe is easier to learn? What do you think? Thanks!

Try Sign language if it is offered. you are far more likely to use it.

I wouldn't count on German's being any easier than Spanish, especially grammatically. The Spanish grammatical structure is much simpler than the German or even our own. All foreign languages take work to learn. You'll get out of it whatever you put into it, as with almost everything in life. That said, however, I'd still recommend taking the class. I find German quite interesting myself.

It can be a tricky choice...

IF you are studying Physics or Chemistry (especially ORGANIC Chemistry) then learning German would give you an advantage - there are sources that are German-based.

IF you plan to travel, then use the language that would be best (depending on the countries you have interest in)...IF you will decide to keep practicing.

Otherwise, it's a toss-up.

I never took Spanish, but I did find German far easier to learn than French. Latin was a bit more difficult than German, but it was fun and interesting which made up for its comparatively greater difficulty.

i'm a intense college instructor of overseas language (French and modern Greek). In FL you should have 2 credit of a similar overseas language to get in to a state college. you're prepared to get round the criteria on your state through taking a CLEP (college aspect expertise attempt) in both Russian or eastern. in case you could pass it, then they'd waive the criteria for college admission. Or, worst case situation, merely take a million.5 credit in even if language you've the a million/2 credit in.(summer college). best of success!

It depends on what type of career you are looking at. If you want to go in to the business field, German or better yet, Japanese is helpful. If you're going to go in to government work, Arabic or Persian is useful.
