Perhaps he was thinking of the other blokes interest not yours.

Maybe the other guy was too wild or maybe your Trainer thought you were too much for him, whatever his reasoning, listen to your Trainer, and do as you're told and you will be on your way to being the very best that you can be. That's his job. I know you maybe eager to get in there and mix it up, but that will happen in it's own good time. I actually worked out in gym for a whole year before I got to spar. Everyone progresses at different levels, be patient your time will come. Good luck anthonyusa3, I hope to be reading about you in the papers some day.

I just had my first sparring match yesterday and I got beaten up bad. Busted lip, small cut, and nose is a little swollen. I've been training for 3 months and although I didn't get tired (running 5 miles on my off days), I stepped into the ring thinking this was going to be a light sparring session. Boy was I wrong. The guy threw all his punches with power and was not out there to practice on technique, but to fight.

Listen to your trainer, everyone progresses differently and don't assume anyone is stepping into the ring to take sparring lightly.

Maybe your not ready yet, and if you lose maybe your trainer thinks you could lose your confidence, or it would look bad for you. Or it could be sometimes fighting someone to easy will give you a big head after you beat him. I dont know the exact answer, what you should do is ask your trainer.

You've been boxing for two months? Dude, I've been training fighters for years. Listen to your coach, because you're gonna get hurt.
You've been boxing for TWO months - who are you to determine another beginner's weaknesses?
You think it would've been easy? That's what the other guy's trainer thought when he when he saw you.
