I have a 2 month old lab just diagnosed with parvo today myself!!! He has had 2 sets of vaccinations and my vet has contacted the manufacturer of this series because he should have been protected. Anyway, like you, he's at the vet overnight tonight and we are hoping to bring him home tomorrow. My vet told me to give him gatorade or pedialyte. Don't worry about food, it just makes them naseous. The vet can also send you home with an IV fluid bag that you can give throughout the night if they are staying dehydrated.
Nature's Miracle is the BEST to clean with (found at PetSmart), but Wal-Mart has a cheaper alternative called Kids & Pets that I've found to work pretty well when you're in a tight spot. After clean up, do the 1:30 clorox clean up. Even use it in your yard. Make sure and do the clean up in food/water bowls, crate, throw toys away and buy new ones AFTER she's better. You can also get a mat that will hold a bit of water outside your door and put clorox in it so that your shoes will be cleaned as well. Get a bunch of old papers and put her in the bathroom or in the kitchen w/you and keep her on the papers so when she gets sick, you can easily dispose of it. Good Luck with your puppy. I sure hope she pulls through. I know it's hard to deal with this. Trust me, I know every feeling you are going through. God Bless

sorry to hear about your puppy. if it was caught in the early stages, that's great! although the best thing for the puppy would be to keep her at the vet all the time for the first few days. even though the vet isn't there at night, they have IV drips that can give medicine and fluids to the puppy at night. this is extremely important because it is the dehydration that kills the puppy, and the fluids through the IV will certainly help that. with the vomit in the carpet, what you will want to do is get all the vomit up with a towel. once ALL the vomit or diarehha is up (this is important because because the bleach doesn't work as well if the vomit and diarehha isn't all cleaned) you take a 1:30 bleach to water solution. I.E. for every 1 cup or 1 ounce of bleach you would put either 30 cups or 30 ounces. it'll kill the virus and willhelp get the stain up. also, since it's harder to get the virus out of the carpet, you should quarintine the puppy in the bathroom or crate where bleach can be used easily. goodluck and i hope ur puppy feels better soon!

My puppy I adopted from the pound had gotten this two days after we brought her home, We rushed her to the vet at 10:00 at night, she had peed blood all over the floor, She unfortunaely passed during that night, all we gave her was one dose of her medicine, it was fast. All I could do for her was force fluid (pedialite) to her with a dropper, my vet said that was all we could do. I can't tell you what else to do, I can say Clean, Clean,Clean. It can transfer to other animals up to a year later even if the animal has been outside and it has froze or snowed during the night, get her parvo shots ASAP. It can get to humans allthough it is not as dangerous, you probably would just think you had mild flu. My dog didn't vomit she just bled alot!! My vet had told me there is not much I could do for her, he said it would be very costly and the outcome would more than likely not be good. I really hope you have a different outcome. Best of luck to you and her!!!

Parvo puppies have bloody diarrhea and vomiting, both are hard to get out of carpet, there is some stuff called Nature's Miracle that will help. You will also want to use bleach to kill the parvo virus. Good luck,

my puppy had parvo and I think it's really good that you caught it early. For me - I kept her at the vet for about 4 days, all day. She couldn't eat so they had her on fluids and gradually introduced food to her. Then after that I fed her chicken and rice. If your vet won't take her all day, I suggest you take her to a place that can - at least for the first 3 days or so. After that bring her home and follow vet instructions. As for vomit - I suggest using a rental carpet cleaner. You can rent them from Lowes, Home Depot and most other home supply stores. Good luck!

Make sure you continue to give her plenty of fluids so she doesn't get dehydrated. It would be best for her to stay at your vets with IV fluids, but if that is not possible, it's up to you to make sure she stays hydrated while in your care. Get Natures Miracle for the carpet, but it's best to keep her in her crate. You are going to have to disinfect EVERYTHING that she has come into contact with. DO NOT USE BLEACH. Bleach does not kill viruses and Parvo is a virus. You will need to saturate your carpet with Lysol. Spray everything with Lysol, including the bottoms of your shoes. Remember: if you do not disinfect it will be possible for her to contract Parvo again. If she was ever in your yard you will need to disinfect those areas as well. Also, make sure you disinfect her crate, bedding, toys, dishes, EVERYTHING! The Parvo virus can remain anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. I wish you all the best!

awwwww sorry to hear that. I think if you can afford it you should have the vet keep it until the dog is completely well. a vet cured our dog of parvo once. it was very expensive. and just clean the carpet with cleaner or soap and water and a shop vac, over and over until it is all clean, good luck

Sounds like they caught it early which is good. Hope the baby will be okay. Call the breeder and tell them you pup is sick. Keep detailed records of what you spend on vet bills and what the diagnosis is, what they do to help the pup. Good luck.

I would leave your 2 month old lab inside the crate at all times... The best product to remove puke is Oxi clean... the active stain remover.. works perfectly.
