Like someone else said, it may happen often. Everyone is different. I get the Depo shot so it's been 6 years since I have had a period (including the time I was pregnant with my son and the 5 years since) but I think I remember having similiar symptoms almost every month. It sucks but this is who we are, good ol' women folk :)

That happens to me still. On the first day. But it only happens when I have cramps.
I don't get cramps all the time, but when I do have them I also get bowel movement.
It's strange that if I don't go, the cramps get worse. After the bowel movement I start to feel better. The menstrual cramps get less and less.
I know now that if I have to do number 2 and I am about to get my period, I make sure I do number 2 and clear everything out before I get the period that day...it helps lessen my menstrual cramps. It's odd.
Everyone's different.

I have always had diarrhoea just before and during the first 2 days of my period. I think it may to be related to hormone fluctuations and the cramping of your uterus pushing the bowel movements out before they are properly formed. I find it really uncomfortable, as I suffer from severe cramping as well. But it is normal for some women.

I don't remember, it's been many years since i started!
But i sometimes get loose stools before my periods now, and sometimes during! But it's not a symptom of your period starting!
one symptom of your period starting soon is discharge! It's a clear substance you may find in your underwear!

One has nothing to do with the other. Your period is simply the beginning of menstruation. Diarrhea is more a problem with your stomach.
