I let my neighbor's kids play with my kitten today for a few hours and he came home with a little cut on his tongue to the side. Looks like he might have bite it. Now the kids are great kids and I've known them for quite a while and I don't think they would ever intentionally hurt the kitten but I've never seen a cat bite his own tongue before either. Do they ever do that?

Also, if there anything I can do to ease his pain, he still eats but I can tell the tongue is bothering him a little. I gave him some ice to lick, any other ideas?

Well, kittens are pretty curious little things....and hyper, to boot. He may have just been biting on something and cut his tongue. Even if the kids did do it, I'm sure it was an accident (since you said you know them and they'd never hurt him on purpose). I would guess it's always possible for them to bit their own tongues....we do.

awww oh no, i have a kitten too and thats so sad. Ice is a great idea, but cuts in the nouth normally heal faster than anywheres else so it shouldnt be too long, but if its that bad and isnt cleared up within 3 days id bring him to a vet to make sure no infections are there or anything, i knew someone whos cat cut their tongue on something got an infection and died, so be careful and give hiom lots of love!!!

Call a Vet's office and ask if there is anything you can do
for your little kitty. A kitties mouth is germ city. It is so nasty but I
suspect that her little tongue will heal by itself. Keep plenty of
fresh water for her to drink. If it isn't bleeding just leave it
alone. You might want to leave the ice. Extreme cold could do more damage than good. Hope your little kitty feels better soon.
