Wow. I guess I'm the only liberal here today. From my point of view; there is NOTHING wrong with a one night stand. As long as you both view it as just a hookup with no emotional baggage attached to it. Be totally honest with yourself and your partner. If you don't think you can handle the thought of sleeping with someone and never speaking to them again...STOP. Do not sleep with them.
These are not a jump in the sack to start a relationship, they are a way to get laid without having to get emotionally attached.
Many people have one night stands after a difficult breakup or divorce.
Sometimes these will morph into a "**** buddy" type of relationship. That still does not mean you are dating. You are just sleeping together whenever either of you is horny.
This is not for the faint of heart. You must be emotionally strong and able to detach sex from love.

One of the biggest problems, from a practical point of view, is that one night stands can cause you to become unable to later have and maintain a long term relationship. Although in many cases, the media prods and pokes fun at marriage and other long term monogamous relationships, the truth is that couples in long term relationships are usually more satisfied sexually and emotionally, more likely to try new thing ;-), and will probably live, in general, happier, longer lives.

one night stands can be bad because you have only known that person for like a day so you don't know if they have STDs or is a serial killer or whatever. Also one night stands breaks what sex is supposed to mean. The love between two people.

Yes, it is wrong. Sexual union is to be fulfilled only in the state of marriage. Think about it. If everyone waited until they were married to have sex, and then remained faithful to their spouse, there would be no AIDS and no other STDs. There would also be far fewer unplanned pregnancies, and far fewer broken hearts. Children would also be more likely to then be brought up in the two parent ideal of a mother and father in a committed marriage.

Anyone that does one night stands doesn't really care about the other person. Therefore, you have a 1% chance of getting aids, a 25% chance of getting gentital herpes, a 30% of gonorrhea, a 50% chance of clap,.........do I need to go on?

There is nothing wrong with one night stands as long as you aren't already in some sort of a commitment with a different partner.

nothing wrong with one night stands at all..i think 2 people of consenting age are allowed to do whatever they want to behind closed doors, or in front of a camera, or discretely in public...i also think that those who disagree with me should try it just once and then decide how you feel.., you first need to be a part of the problem before you are able to be a part of the solution...

One night stands are exciting and spontaneous but the after affects aren't worth it. You chance STD's or AIDS. If not that you are playing with self-respect.
