If you can't see very well and because of this you get hurt or hurt someone, you won't care much what people would ahve said if you had chose not to drive. It sounds as if you are trying to be responsible. Good for you, you deal, adjust as needed, and then you will be on to the next thing.

I've been driving 40 years and I've gotten to the point it"s a hell of all lot more fun to be the passenger than the driver.
Sit back and relax and let someone else drive.

Yep it's a pain in the ***.Learning now. Ya i've been made fun of but you know what your right look at all the money I've saved on gas. Plus many shallow people who I don't need in my life aren't here because of that fact so, I guess It turned out to be a blessing

Yes,of course,if your vision is impaired,and makes it dangerous for you and others,and glasses doesn't help your vision enough to drive,then it's OK not to be able to drive.
As far as your other question,well it shouldn't make any difference how people feel about you,because you can't drive.

Is it ok to risk yourself and the lives of the people in the vehicle your driving because you can't see very well?

Sweetie, if you're visually impaired, please don't drive. Call me, I'll take you where you need to go, show you how to get to the bus or call a cab, but please, don't put yourself & others in jeopardy for something you can't help.
