I am considering using soft pink cherry blossoms and white orchids as plant decor. What other ideas do you have for reception decorations and centerpieces using these colors?

For centerpieces use oriental fans (decorated on both sides) opened and placed on a dowel accented with a single orchid on either side in a simple squat vase in chocolate brown. For the individual place settings you can carry on the fan idea for place cards and napkin rings..

Bonzai trees in squat rock garden style planters can also be used as centerpieces..

Large wood and rice paper screens (you can create then by purchasing garden trellis and adding rice paper... Call a local oriental resturant and explain your theme ask if someone there is proficient in writing in traditional calligraphy ask if they would be willing to write a list of words one per panel on the screens... words such as love honor cherish ect. You can offer to pay them a small fee and take the rice paper, cut to size for the panels, brush and ink to them ) and greenery can be used as decorations for the hall check with local nurseries you may be able to rent actual living plants for the occassion..

Small bags of special fortune cookies can be given as wedding favors with messages such ae "John and Jane May 5th 2007" and a favorite short quote...

I really like those colors, they're different from the traditional wedding colors which is a great thing :) I would use brown for the ''main'' things such as the table clothes and biggest decorations on account of it being the boldest and just accessorize with the pink and brown. How about having a vase of flowers these colors as the centerpiece on each table? Or maybe fancy fish bowls with pink green and brown gems on the bottom with floating candles on the top?
Good luck & congrats :)

I love candles at a wedding reception. I think it adds an extra glow and really sets the mood. Maybe you can cluster candles with these colors of different hights. You can plase them in a asian plate and put a few rocks around the base for a zen like look.

This is just another idea, I really liked your idea of cherry blossoms with white orchids.

You could put one orchid in a glass vase with alternating pink, brown, or kiwi green stones in the bottom. Your wedding favors could be fortune cookies or small take-out boxes filled with candy.

You could use Chinese lanterns on the tables and scatter the table with cherry blossoms.

I like the flowers that you have picked out why not try using the other colors in the table coverings like chocolate table cloths and kiwi accents

I think I would wait a while to worry about this aspect, dear. Next May is nine months away!
