I work as a bartender and this dirty old man who is a regular reached out and grabed my butt while I was taking an order from another table, so I turned around and I hit the bastard. Then I refused to serve him from then on out. This is in a small town and everyone has heard about it and all have seem to have given their opinion about it and some of them think that I over reacted, I don't think i did and niether did my boss. I would also like to point out that this isnt the first time this guy has pulled something stupid like that. He tried to pull another bartender friend of mines' shirt down one time. So did I over react in your opinion?

The dude is barred from the place now and my boss is totally supportive and a really good man he said just call the cops on him if he trys to come back in, all of his buddies are trying to get him back in but he is out. Plus he was a horrible tipper.

You did what I would have done so in my opinion you did the right thing! And it's great that your boss backed you up. The people who think you overreacted are probably using the excuse that he was drunk and didn't know what he was doing. That's bullsh!t. If he rapes someone I wonder what their excuse would be?

If someone put their hands on me without my permission, I would absolutely use some physical force. First I would slap their hand away, or if (as in your case) this has happened more than once I would absolutely hit them. I don't think there is anything wrong with defending your right to personal space and dignity. Good for you, and good for your boss!

No way, I don't know about you, but I'd have felt threatened by his actions and that justifies you defending youself. Also, does your bar not instate the "we have the right to refuse" thing? I think that guy should be asked to not come back, and that's something your boss should have to take care of, not you.

Maybe you shouldn't have hit him. But I definately think that the bouncer should have tossed him out. And he should be banned from the bar if this was not the first time. He has no right to grab you or anyone else.

Why is this ill-mannered man tolerated -- because he's a regular? Is your pub that desperate for business, or is your employer afraid of him?
It's really unfortunate that your employer doesn't completely support you. Now you know the element among whom you work. Can you find work elsewhere?

You and your boss did the right thing. Tell his friends if they miss him so much that they can drink at his house and maybe he will grope their privates! See if they like that idea!

You did the right thing and I am glad to hear you have the support of your boss. This creep needs to learn to keep his hands to himself. Unwanted touching you don't have to put up with.
