There really is no way to tell what the final result will look like.
Don't go by the front of the box, that shows the color you are adding to your hair. Check the side for approximate before and after pictures for different hair colors. It's a better representation of possible results.
Talk to your stylist about color suggestions, even if you plan on doing it yourself at home. She may be able to point you in the right direction.
You could also try a virtual makeover. The only one I know of that's free to join is
http://www.clairol.com
Their Try It On Studio lets you upload your own picture or use a model to see how different styles, lengths, and colors could look on you. Once you select the shade you like, it will suggest which Clairol product you can use to get those results.

Good Luck!

I have brown hair with natural red highlights, my mom started to have her hair dyed a little bit of red to look like mine. I think you should be safe, since hers looks great each time.

If you are getting it done professionally, talk to your stylist about your worries and they should be able to tell you. If you were thinking of doing them at home, read the box. It'll tell you all the details. You could also look at places like Target and CVS, where they have little hair samples of what it looks like. Good luck!

What I would be worried about is if it would look weird on me, if you have light skin then don't do a dark color. and I'm sure everything well be fine.
