I dont know where in Illinois you live, but If your near the Chicago area they have bird shows at the DuPage
county fairgrounds from time to time, there was one last weekend that I went to. There is another one September 23.there will be a really big one November 17, 18 In Schaumburg, IL at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and convention center Phone # 1-847-303-4100 which is hosted by Greater Chicago Cage Bird Club www.gccbc.org. They are supposed to hav e a bunch of breeders with about 1000 birds and cages and supplies.

i own a green wing macaw, they are alot of responsibility, just like having a child u will need a sitter if you go anywhere for more than one day. Oh and they can be very very destructive. I know they are beautful birds and i wanted one just like u did six years later, hmm 3 phones later, 2 keyboards later, and i dont know how many zippers later. all it takes is one sec and they can destroy anything. So if you get a bird u might want one you can raise from a baby somtimes its hard 2 take care of a bird that has has prior home, i was fortunate 2 hand raise my birdy, but i believe birds r meant for the wild now that i have owned him. I would never sell him for money and let him live at another home i would give him 2 a zoo where he can still fly and be with other birds.

You'll have a really easy time finding reputable breeders in your area through one of the breeder networks (where breeders go to advertise, usually to each other). You get lower prices through them, too; especially Up@six. On Birds n' Ways, you can use the search function for birds in your state or zip code. Here are the links:

PS -- Ask, and they'll disclose feathering, weaning method and health, and they'll probably DNA sex for you before you pick the bird up, for a little extra.

Check with your local animal rescue leagues. Then check the newspaper in your hometown. You can find breeders in your state in the back of Bird Talk Magazine....and on line. Be careful...check references, especially if you're looking for bigger parrots. Be sure to get some type of guarantee. Good luck.

It's a new site just for birds. Sellers from across the country place ads for birds here and you can contact them. Good luck with your search!

try shelters and rescue first. Why does it would desire to be AKC authorized? Are you making plans on showing? a great breeder might have a waiting record and you particularly shouldn't basically assume one in March. you will might desire to get on thier record and wait until your call comes up.
