If you have more than one dog{I have 3} Do you ever feel guilty spending more time with one more than the other, or others? I always try to give equal attention, but at night my Westie likes to curl up on the couch with me,. My Silky doesn't mind because he likes to get petted a few minutes and then go lay down on his own. But my Sheltie would like to be petted all night! And he's not a lap dog, although he'd like to be, he weighs 40lbs. So I try to spend time with him then go lay down and relax, but i feel guilty because he sees the Westie there. Am I being to sensitive and worrying too much?

As long as you are giving them attention as best as you can, then you are doing the right thing and the mom in you is being a worry wart ;-)

We have 3 dogs (smallest 45lbs)
The one mixed female is not as pushy about getting attention, and waits she knows she will get some good attention more than a couple times a day. She is part border collie and is the same way, she would sit and let you pet the hair off her. Now my two fixed Male dogs is another story, My Shepard mix and my boxer are always looking for attention or when one is getting petted the other tries to butt in. But no I do not feel any guilt about one getting any more attention than another one...they all get equal love, and they make sure of that.
In fact my boxer just came in and barked at me, wanting me to go outside and play with them, sense it has cooled way off here.
Just try to spend equal time with each, and when one feels left out they will let you know about it.

I have 3 dogs and I feel the same way. I also have 18 mth old twins. Somedays, the kids keep me so busy, I don't have time for all the dogs. I get to play with one and I always feel like i am leaving the other ones out. I do try to give them all a good scratch on their ears, but it is hard to find time. And, getting rid of any of them is not an option.

I have the same problem....i have a shih-tzu / lhasa apso mix and a mutt that weighs 45 pounds and she gets too excited and rough when i pet her but i love the little shih-tzu....yeah i do feel guilty at times but there really isnt anything that i can do about the bigger ones behavior. So you shouldn't feel bad because at least you are paying it attention still and thats all that matters to a dog is for you to show it love

I have 2 and it seems that whenever i pet one, the other gets jealous and runs over to me. but they both sleep literally on top of me, so at least at night i feel like a good mom. I wouldn't worry about it too much, dogs are smart and if they need more attention, they'll come get it.

Yes, you're being a little over anxious. Dogs just love to be with their owner. Sounds like you're very diligent about sharing your affection, so don't feel guilty.

No....i have 2 dogs. I feel that way sometimes. So what I do is pet both at once!! But...then my arms get tired and then take a rest from petting both...then when your ready pet both again. Then....no one is jealous.

Well there is 5 dogs here, and one of them is only mine. I pay more attention to the puppies more then the older ones. And I also pay attention to the ones that demand it. They can be bossy sometimes.
