I see what you mean, but there is pain in being told you deserve to go to hell because you diagree with another.

I think it's safe to say that generalizing intellectual status based on theologies, or a lack of such, is part of where the frustration begins for those who are not religious. It's also indicative of the like-mindedness thinking that is required to be religious. It's as if diversity is a sin, original thought is a sin, deep-thinking and science would be the ultimate of these while at the same time gifts from God.
It may stem from dealing with absolutes, with judgements based on what one has been taught rather than learned for themselves, and ultimately ends with threats of going to a place that has never been proven to exist once another does not see things the same way.
Perhaps the frustration could be the narcissism that must exist among the religious, as they believe that their each and every move, that each hair has been numbered by a God with seemingly so much else to tend to in this world.
The lack of most religious people having even an understanding of how Chrisitanity was spread amongst the people of MANY other religions that existed prior to Jesus Christ being born having been swept under the rug could be another.
Maybe it's that dogmatic way in which the "truth" has been published, explained, propogandized, and re-written. Who knows? Any one of the above does it for me.
By the way...have you given any thought to how there could have been a God before Jesus if Jesus is God and he wasn't yet here on earth, and how he sent himself to the world, predicted his own death, allowed himself to be killed, then rose to return himself to, well, himself to reign in Heaven? Jesus' own brother James shouted from the mountaintops more than 2000 years ago to repent for the end is near. Seems someone was farsighted. Maybe we should redefine near? Who knows, I'll just pray about it and in the morning, God will have sifted through billions of prayers to give me my answer. The suffering and truly needy can wait! I need my Christian answer right now...tht's why I formed a personal relationship with a dead man!

I normally try to be very respectful with my answers. I think sometimes the way a question is phrased provokes me and I answer in kind.
I consider myself atheist only with respect to the God of the Old Testament. I'm wiling to leave open the question of whether there is a supernatural creator of the universe, which means I am agnostic with respect to Deism. If there is a such a being, I suspect she will be quite patient and compassionate with my attempts to make sense of the universe, and forgive me for doubting her. After all, she's clearly decided to make her presence undetectable by repeatable experiments.

i've got by no ability reported I seen myself to be intellectually extra ideal to theists. i'm smart adequate to realize that there are a number of smart non secular human beings accessible. I in basic terms question the psychological colleges and extreme thinking skills of absolutely everyone who accepts the creation account from an unverified source relationship back to the Bronze Age over scientific theories in accordance with mountains of primary evidence.

No, I do not think that atheists think that they are superior intellectually any more than deists think that they are superior.
We always tend to favor those who think the same way we do.
Respect of others no matter what one's philosophy should be basic but unfortunately it is not, as we often see in these questions and answers.

Atheists are classy people without class. Just like the world without God. In their world they can show disrespect and anger as there is no power higher above Will be sad and they themselves do not have feeling as all atheists are supposed to be not sad not happy not any feeling at all. Because if they become angry, ridiculous and disrespectful they become followers of God.

I am an Atheist, and I believe I am smarter than some deists and some deists are smarter than me. Religion or lack of has nothing to do with over all intelligence. I am also not angry or disrespectful.

Intellectual contemplation requires the ability of one to change their mind. Clearly those who have all the answers and are set in their ways be it a belief in a deity or not are incapable of intellectual thought.

Why are you singling out atheists?
And did you really mean deists and not theists?
The disrespect and anger is common across all beliefs.

Intellect is based on a series of questions that are unbiased on grounds of education, culture and religion. The number attained after that is your IQ, this is what intellect is.

It's not about feeling superior (which I don't, BTW). It's about reacting to the totalitarianism of the Church, that imposes its values by force in everybody's lives, including those of us who have freely and legally chosen not to pick your church. So, if your church attacks, why wouldn't we have the right to attack back?
