Well, actually the english lab has a fuller face, medium size body, and is stockier. The american lab is larger and it's face isn't as full. There really isn't a difference in the personality or temperment of the 2. There is no distniction made by the AKC. The difference of the 2 is mearily from the way they were bred. There is also an australian breed of lab, but it is rarely seen in the west, but more common in asia.

Well, the dog's pedigree should tell you. My understanding is an English Lab is smaller, in general, than an American.

The difference is the "english" is what Labs are meant to look like, the "american" is what this country has turned them into with all the backyard breeding!!!!!!

English...stocky,blocky,calm

American...tall,pointy,HYPER!!

If they use the telly to call the repair shop to fix a dent in the bonnet of their lory, it is probably English. Does it prefer tea or coffee? What temperature does it like its beer?
