Why do they get so offended when you make a joke about jesus?

For example. "Why can't jesus eat M&M's?"
"Because they keep falling through his hands"

See? They get so offended about a joke that no one at all cares about except them. I mean, don't you think god has a sense of humor? He is supposedly "perfect" after all.
And, I'm not a christian. Nor do I know how to spell it.

By the way, the joke was an example. I don't really endorse what it's saying.

I think it's pretty funny. I love Jesus. I think the Lord has a sense of humor myself.
It's all in what you joke about though.

Sort of a silly joke, but no different then when Jesus went to the inn, gave the innkeeper three nails and asked to be put up for the night.

But seriously, I think Christians are offended because you ar taking something very important in their lives and demeaning it. Personally, I think Jesus has a sense of humor and would not be surprised if he can laugh even at himself. Humor is one of the great blessings God has given us.

But if you want to see offense, try making a joke about Mohammad. The Muslims went nuts a while back and threatened to kill a cartoonist who drew a satire that involved th Prophet. I've never heard of a Christian do that, though I cold be wrong.

The reason why Christians get upset about Jesus jokes is that most of them make light of His supreme sacrifice for all of us (all of us means even those who joke about Him). Even the joke you wrote on this site is offensive because His wounds are the sign of our salvation and His love for us. The proper response to such a loving God would be appreciation and not insults for who He is and what He has done. You see you cannot separate Jesus from His sacrifice on the Cross. And this is not even possible with humor.
Humor is a gift from God and there is a correct way of using it, but the way it was used in the joke written was insulting the God who gave us the gift of humor. And so, it shows two things. One is that God, who gave us humor, is unappreciated. And two, the gift of humor was misused and unappreciaeted.
And that is why Christians are offended by Jesus jokes.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden

Because, you are making fun of our Lord and savior. In which, most Americans still believe in.I don't think I would use the word " offend" to describe my own feelings about it........But, I don't like "jokes" about Jesus, and I won't listen to them. And, contrary to some of the earlier remarks that people of christian belief, are naive or uneducated.I am a very educated person, and i would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die and find that there is'nt. Than to live my life as if there is no God, and die and find out there is. Think about it.The worst that can happen is that ,I have lived a better life.

Not good dude! That's blasphemy. You shouldn't make jokes about the wholes in Jesus hands. Christians don't think that's funny because we take serious the fact that Jesus died a gruesome death on the cross for our sins. Dang...that was wrong.

Try again with something that doesn't rock our entire belief system. Funny doesn't have to be rude. I can take a joke but I'll tell ya' you're not gonna get much reception with Christians making jokes like that....let me guess, you don't really wanna make Christians laugh do ya'...you wanna fight...hahaha!

Same reason why some get offended when you make racial jokes.. its a part of who they/we are and when other people are insulting something that they believe in, it's natural to get offended.

I am not saying I believe this but...would you get offended if I say your avatar looks pretty lame with that Indiana Jones hat? You probably would feel slightly insulted...it's normal.

Again.. I am NOT saying I really believe that.. just finding an example

We get offended because God is the one who created us. How would you like it if the whole world made horrible jokes about your parents that weren't true and were made to make them look bad? We as Christians love God above all things so when you mess with the one we love you mess with us too.

Because they know Jesus is a joke, and the joke's on them, and because they know so little about the mystery they claim to love since you cant know a mystery and having your ignorance exposed is very embarassing and stressful.

When you suffer with a guilt complex from your infancy, and this happens to all Christians born again or gone again, you take every little joke as persecution when some people may be trying to help you out of your misery.

Jesus cant eat M&M's because he is dead as a nit and dead men dont eat, especially when they are Two Thieves with the same name.

We get offended because we know its not true. We don't like it when people make false reports about Jesus.

Some people are so convinced of their beliefs that they can't tolerate any actions they don't agree with, like being allowed to have sense of humor about religion.

I don't think your joke was offensive, but I don't get it.
