Oh this is horribly difficult, like asking what is your favourite film or book.
But right now if you asked me, I'd say it was Rockford's Black Shiraz. An absolutley amazing sparkling red wine from Australia.
Yes you read that right, a sparkling red wine. It's not for all tastes, and it's virtually impossible to get hold of, but a real treat if you can.
That or Amarone wines from Italy. It doesn't matter what, any will do. Amarone's are absolutely stunning. They start in the UK at around £20, but worth it. Oh yes.

Montecillo Rioja Crianza - Spanish red... about $6 (great with burgers, Mexican food, any hearty beef dish
Lindeman's Bin 50 Shiraz - about $6 - This just goes with anything - lol
Columbia Crest Two Vines Merlot - about $8 - can do with beef or chicken if the prep is full enough... great to drink alone too
Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon - about $7 - this is my favorite with grilled steaks!
Santa Cristina Sangiovese - about $9 - this is soft enough for an Italian dish with chicken... but will stand up to a meat sauce with pasta as well
Duck Pond Pinot Noir - about $9 - this is my pick for salmon or grilled tuna

Since best is a value judgement, it depends, and such is the variety of wine that there is no one best wine.
But most observers would agree that the 'first growths' of Bordeaux consistently produce some of the best wines in the world.
They are
Château Lafite-Rothschild
Château Margaux
Château Latour
Château Haut-Brion
Château Mouton-Rothschild
you get what you pay for

Chillable red always in the fridge for use ($15.00 a box) then any red 2 buck chuck get it at trader joes look it up on the web story goes he didn't want his wife to profit when she divorced him after the vineyard had finally become a success. You can get your local liquer store to order it for you and you will never go wrong. My sister keeps her cases in the trunk of her car taking a bottle a night so as to not over indulge. Enjoy.
