If it is very bad, you may need a doctor to prescribe a steroid dose pack. If it is not. a good mixture to apply is an oatmeal paste. Mix oatmeal like you are making it to eat, except a little thicker. Add vinegar once it is mixed, then apply it warm to your rash. It will help to pull the itch from you. It nearly feels a good as sex. I had it real bad, and tried everything. This was the best thing I tried.

Usually I use Caladryl, a clearless anti-itch liquid after a gentle washing of the affected area. I am extremely allergic to poison ivy because of a bad bout during an Army field exercise many years ago.

The smallest of rashes soon spread quickly and I must see my doctor for a shot of cortisone. Should you have to see your doctor, ask for a prescription of Triamcinolone acetonide cream, USP, 0.5%. It also relieves the itching while it dries out the blisters.

First, be sure it is a reaction to poison ivy!!! Take Benadryl orally. Take two 25 mg capsules. Then wash the area well and apply a thin layer of calamine lotion. Try not to scratch, and keep taking the Benadryl until the reaction subsides and it begins to dry up.

If it's really bad I would see a doctor. Benadryl is good for the itching. You can also take oatmeal baths.

Apply ammonia and zinc oxide to the area. Works like a charm.
