With the state that country is in, why would you want to do that? Come up to Canada instead. Since you're from the Commonwealth already, you probably wouldn't have any trouble getting landed immigrant and work permits. Better yet, if you have any skills in the medical field, we REALLY need you. We have a real shortage of health care providers right now!

Move to Oklahoma. Specifically Norman or Stillwater. There's a university in each of those cities with lots of foreign students so your being from Australia won't stick out. The people are accepting of other cultures because they are exposed to various cultures all the time. They are a nice cities, modern, not too big, not run down. The schools are good in both Norman and Stillwater.

If your child is a genius then consider Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (www.ossm.edu) is the state's school for gifted and talented high school students. It's located in OKC but they accept students from all over the state. They produce more National Merit Scholors than any other school in the country. One of their students earned a gold medal in the International Physics Olympics this past year.

Oklahoma offers concurrent enrollment for high school students in most school districts. That is Juniors and Seniors stay at the high school for half a day and then do the other half day at a college. This gives them a jump start at earning a college degree.

If your child doesn't want to go to college, Oklahoma has a "School to Work" initiative. Students do a half day at the high school and a half day at a Technology Center learning real job skills. The Tech centers teach everything from hair dressing to vocational nursing to computer technician. The goal is for students to be ready to get a real job when they graduate from high school.

Did I mention all these perks are paid for by the Great State of Oklahoma?

Good luck in your search!

actual, john cropter, Canberra is an really proper city with a inhabitants of ~350,000, and in no way all of them are public servants. we've our own monetary equipment and authorities, and certain, we pay taxes like anybody else - in truth ours are worse, because our authorities seems to trust that anybody is on a public servant's salary. i do not delight in being compelled to pay over $800 for my automobile registration for 12 months. it really is a calm, non violent city, very tremendous, not crowded, not smoggy or polluted. you could force one end to a distinct in 40-50 minutes, per chance an hour and a 1/2 at height situations. it really is a lot extra constructive than crowded dirty dashing places like Sydney or Melbourne. you'll probably desire a operating vacation visa in case you want to artwork, or a vacationer visa, yet staying in a unmarried position could get expensive and this is the type of waste of a visit in case you stay in a unmarried position! i'd recommend a excursion of the east coast for now, once you've time/money you could flow to Adelaide and Perth and observe all the proper panorama and sights in NT, WA and SA, yet for now you could do Gold Coast, Brisbane, the Queensland rainforests etc, the Blue Mountains, Sydney, Canberra, the Snowy Mountains (actual, with the exception of containing a large type of astonishing nationwide sights, Canberra is an excellent base for any visit to the Snowies), Melbourne, the South Coast, etc.

Nothern Wisconsin. I have never met nicer people. The snow is amazing, you fall in love with it after the first day. The summers are really nice too. There are a ton of lakes and everything is soo beautiful. The cost of living can be high or low depending on your lifestyle.

Well, Illinois is good because we have big cities but we have small towns too. We get warm weather, and cold winters. We don't get bad storms like Hurricanes, and other stuff. It's a good state and we have cool structures like the Sears tower and the largest Mcdonalds in the world.

Come here to southern California. We have huge mountains, beaches, forests, deserts, all within an hour of each other. Cost of living is high, hope you and your hubby have solid careers. Great weather, 5th biggest economy in the world. You have to overlook Arnold, and high taxes. I have always wanted to go to Australia, maybe we can just trade places?
