You are describing one of the symptoms of BPD, but there are many others. Have you been diagnosed with BPD?

If you have been diagnosed, you probably know that treatments for BPD have improved in recent years. Group and individual psychotherapy are at least partially effective for many patients. Within the past 15 years, a new psychosocial treatment termed dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) was developed specifically to treat BPD, and this technique has looked promising in treatment studies.

You may find the information at these sites helpful. Take care of yourself, and see a doctor if you think you have BPD symptoms that are not controlled..

The interpretation that people are abandoning you is a key feature of borderline personality disorder. Be careful though, there are specific criteria other than the perception of abandonment (outlined in the DSM-IV) that you must have to be considered borderline.
