Listen to some of your favorite music on a low volume for about 15 minutes with the light off! Turn off the music, and close your eyes. ~Seems to work for me~
Or try drinking a glass of milk before bed! Whatever you do, do not take a tylenol PM every night, cause you could become dependent!

i also have a hard time falling asleep quickly... what i do is picture a calming image (for me it's a butterfly in flight). i focus on only that. and that allows me to stop thinking of a million other things which end up stressing me out (stress is the reason it takes longer to fall asleep and stay asleep during the night)
i don't think it's a good idea to take sleeping pills to help, because you may become dependent on them. so try to train your brain naturally and this will empower you.
also, i find that bikram yoga is very helpful. it brings my stress level down, and i fall asleep so much faster! good luck.

Over the counter sleep aids, like Tylenol P.M. (already mentioned in first article) and Alka-Seltzer Night Time Sleep-Aid, etc., are SAFE to take if taken like the packages say (my doctors tell me they are in no way "habit forming.")
However, if you do not like taking fizzy medicine tasting stuff or pills, another easy way is the "next best thing to sleep" to get you "into sleep" and that is self-hypnosis. Self-Hypnosis can relax you and clear your mind, gently lowering your mental rhythms into a sleep like state so that sleep is the next natural step. An easy way to do this is to stop by Barnes & Nobles or Books-A-Million and go to the Books-on-CD/DVD section and look for a self-hypnosis book on relaxation or to help you sleep.
There are only 2 times your mind "vents" to file the information that you've gathered during the day, one is during sleep and the other during hypnosis, so good luck and get some rest.
Soon, you won't need the CD and can do it by thinking about it.

Get up early, go for a run, a jog, and workout. By the time the clock hits 8pm, you'll be so exhausted, you'll fall asleep in seconds!
Being active helps you sleep better! Try it!

Melatonin is definitely extra efficient whilst taken in smaller doses. try the doses out to be certain that's maximum efficient for you. while you're taking too lots you will experience drugged and groggy, yet once you're taking the suitable quantity it basically sounds like thoroughly common sleep. You on no account awaken feeling "groggy" the two like dozing pills. it somewhat is all organic so there are no section effects linked with it (different than while you're taking too lots some human beings say they experience groggy or have bright objectives). Like the rest nevertheless it particularly is often sturdy to ask your well being practitioner. i do no longer understand what different well being or scientific themes you have so Melatonin would possibly no longer be a sturdy determination for you. you are going to be able to as properly pick to call your interior of reach pharmacist and ask his/her opinion. different issues are to drink chamomile tea approximately an hour until now bedtime (Tazo calm works properly). try shutting the lights off approximately an hour until now bedtime. The dark will sign melatonin production and could tell your physique it's time to sleep. And, do no longer circulate into mattress extra beneficial than quarter-hour until now you pick to nod off. once you're laying there, unsleeping, which will become habit. you pick to apply the mattress in elementary terms for dozing. additionally, assume that it will take approximately 15-20 minutes. to nod off--it somewhat is the well-known quantity of time it takes a typical guy or woman to nod off. are not getting discouraged after laying there for 5 minutes. you additionally can use little tricks like attempting to visualise issues. it somewhat is virtually like "enjoying pretend" once you have been a new child. think of the suitable trip or the suitable date or the suitable day, etc. think of approximately all the particular little info, create little eventualities on your ideas, placed your self in that relaxing place. this might supply help to nod off. determine you're delicate and that the room is on the cooler section--this makes for extra useful sleep.
