All the above posters are incorrect. I am constantly amazed at people who answer questions they know nothing about. Stick to a topic you have a clue about, it will be more beneficial for everyone.
First, NWA is not a partner or codeshare with Southwest. They are a low cost carrier. NWA is a legacy carrier. We are a codeshare airline with Delta, as well as Continental, and KLM.
Second, the prospect of a strike is very real, I will not lie to you. As for all these supposed injunctions, the initial one was not upheld by the bankruptcy judge. It was only when NW appealed it in a higher court, it was put on hold to allow the judge more time for a descision. That is where is stands now.
That being said, the strike will not be a typical strike. Only random flights will be selected, and the liklihood of your flight being struck is minimal.
I especially like the part about Alaska and Delta being safer. Alaska had a crash a few years ago with no survivors, and Delta owns Comair, who had a incident a few days ago. What an ignorant comment. NWA has one of the best safety records in the industry.
Hopefully that will help you make an informed descision.

Every time the flight attendant's union has come close to striking, there's been an injunction placed on them. I don't want to tell you 100% there will be no strike, but since the courts are deeply involved now, there's less of a chance of a strike.
If you have not purchased the tickets yet, get travel insurance just in case. It's usually about $10/ticket.
If you have already purchased the ticket and still are concerned, call the airline and see if they can switch you to a flight on one of their partners (check the link below for the partner list). Usually there is a fee involved for making the change and only you can decide if it's worth the fee "just in case" there is a strike. But they will be more likely to switch you to a partner airline than they will to completely refund your money.

If I had to decide for over a US airline or yet another i might definately fly with the different. US airlines have the worst popularity international extensive and NorthWest the worst of them, infact they are broadly properly-known interior the marketplace as "NorthWorst". Cathay Pacific is between the ultimate airlines of the international and consistently win awards for provider, fairly often for many suitable cabin team. they seem to be a member of the single international alliance and are based in HongKong. they seem to be a 5 great call airline and a few human beings now evaluate them greater useful than Singapore airlines.

To be honest I have not heard very good things about Northwest (or Southwest ) for that matter...and if Northwest is partners with Southwest at all--I would say no...stick with Delta, or Alaska...though they are more expensive the flights tend to be nicer, safer and the people more courteous.
