Our male is 12lbs., so he needs a larger litter box, too. We got ours at PetSmart, but it has a lid, and I'm not sure a cat as large as yours would fit into it.
That being said, you're gonna need to put your cat on a diet. If he's eating the kitten food, that IS going to add to the problem. Try feeding the kitten in another room, then removing whatever isn't eaten before the big cat can get into it.

My parents have a cat who is also very fat, and they use a plastic container from wal-mart that you would use for storage. It seems to be the perfect height to keep litter in, but is very big area for the cat. The container they buy has a lid but they just throw it away. The only down side to this is there is no cover like a traditional litter box, so the litter might get on the floor.

Use an plastic box that you can wash. I use a flat rubbermaid storage box, because my kittens all like to go to the potty in groups, and if they can't spread out...someone misses. One thng to consider is making sure the sides are high enough that his butt can't hang over the edge, but he still must be able to get IN without much difficulty. Sometimes when you buy a large rubber/plastic box with high sides you have to cut a door or a hole they can fit through.

Just get one of the really large ones. My cat is a little over 17 lbs right now. He's like that because we have him on a perscription diet. He uses a big litter box but he "perches", with all four feet, on the corner, to do his business. Feed them in separate rooms.

My cat is 25 lbs and he refuses to put his feet in the litter so he props himself up on the edges of the box with all four paws clining on for dear life and at times he knocks the box over....good thing its on the patio.
Anyway, I have a huge box....and 2 cats. I found it at Petsmart.

My boyfriend's family have 3 of the larger breeds of cats (25 to 35 pounds). They have found litter boxes to accommodate their needs at local major pet supply stores like feeders supply, pets r us, etc. You may want to look on line for well known pet stores and see their supply of litter boxes. You may want to even improvise yourself and go to a discount store like Big Lots or Walmart and get one of those flat storage boxes that slide under beds and convert it into a litter boxes for your kitty.

Heh, heh! Meaty Boy! (Just kidding! One of my cats used to be a reall pudge too!)
You might try a jumbo or extra large litter box. If you Google "jumbo litter box" you'll see some on the web, to get an idea of types and manufacturers. If your local petstore or Target (or ...?) doesn't carry them, they might be willing to order one for you.

That is one fat cat. Someone I know has a cat that weighs 21 something pounds, and it is heavy when you pick him up. My cat, who is very skinny, around 10 pounds, goes to the bathroom anywear outside, and doesn't often use his litter box.
