I'm trying to gain weight, but in a healthy way with a trainer and everything...but it's difficult because i've been sick and my stomach is weak. I can't tolerate dairy and I can't tolerate fats. So I eat a lot of bread over the coarse of the day...is it unhealthy to eat 5 to 8 servings of whole grain bread a day? Will that make me gain unhealthy weight? I don't want to just pack it on my stomach. I want to gain evenly. Any advice? Does anyone have any snack ideas that I could try that doesn't involve bread, dairy or fats?

If you are going to eat bread, the Whole grain is the way to go. It won't add to your weight only in the stomach, don't worry. Add plenty of healthy veggies to your diet as well.
With a healthy exercise plan, working out, say, every other day (Not every day! You'll only burn the muscle off again) you should see some nice gains.

That much white bread would be bad for you, but whole grain is fine. Can you eat fruit - bananas usually are easy to digest and pack a lot of calories. How about baked potatoes with salsa? Try triscuits with peanut butter - yum! Whatever your body can tolerate! In a few weeks try a greater variety of foods, as your sensitivity probably is not permanent.

Try to stay away from meat - there is a lot of evidence that meat is bad for you, especially your heart, and most people feel a lot better without it. (And it's REALLY bad for the animals that are used to make it.) Veggie burgers are lowfat and yummy.

Good luck!

How is your sugar intake? You might think this is a strange question, but, if you don't eat at least a small amount of sugar, your blood glucose can fall to low and you will be sick and weak and dizzy. It is okay to eat a little bit of bread. 5 pieces is probably to much, however, the food triangle seems to change every time I turn around. What about fruit as a snack?

whole grain bread is never bad for you, unless you eat a whole loaf a day! I would eat more refined grains if you are trying to put on weight. White bread is excellent, though watch out because some of it has dairy. Lots of fruit is good, also, as well as more fattening vegetables like avacados and olives, seeds and nuts. Pasta is also excellent for putting on weight.

Whole grain bread is good but what size are your servings if they are small then 8 servings
are okay. I suggest you stop at 5 servings.. eat fruit and some veggies too! Avoid salty foods before bedtime. If you eat salty foods at night time no later than 3 hours before your bedtime is fine. It's not good to eat before you go to bed but if you must a banana or papaya, or apple is fine!

MEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and a lot of vegetables. Maybe eat a burger a week with vegies on it too stay healthy. Don't eat too much bread, or you could end up in the hospital on that nutrition. Just eat a lot more of healthy foods and work out to have it be muscle instead of fat. Go on a walk/run everyday, 10 pushups, 20 crunches, and 50 + jumping jacks. Keep strong & don't give up.

Because of labelling regulations, it's best to stick with whole WHEAT bread, not whole grain bread. Bread labeled "whole wheat" is not allowed to contain any white flour, while bread labelled "whole grain" is allowed to contain white flour. In fact whole grain bread may be mostly white flour with just a little bit of whole grain added.

That's why whole wheat bread is denser and harder than whole grain bread.
