text this guy that i havent seen for ages... (He lives away) or not to text him at all and just leave it? (We used to have a "thing" where we would visit each other and we havent for ages now) so should i just be forward and ask him when he's coming to visit next?
If he doesnt respond....is it better to at least have tried then not at all?? (In your opinion/experience)

i'd let it go and then on your last day of vacation text him. (like wait first to see if he's in town and if he's not, then text him... don't show him right away that you were thinking about him).
