Chromium is a trace element. It is a constituent of Glucose tolerance factor present in lower animals. Absolute chromium deficiency occuring in humans on prolonged parenteral nutrition causes Impaired glucose tolerance that is corrected by parenteral administration of picograms of chromium.

Chromium picolinate is used as a nutritional supplement. It is trivalent (green) chromium. It is a glucose metabolism factor.

Hexavalent chromium (orange) is a deadly toxic heavy metal.

This is the same element, but its oxidation state (+6 or +3) vastly affects its physiological effects!

Interestingly, the reduction of hexavalent chrome by alcohols is the chemical reaction used to bust drunk drivers. The amount of alcohol in the breath is proportional to the color change created by the reduction of the chromium from +6 to +3.

I think the word you are looking for is chromium and you would find it in the plating that is called chrome also it is alloyed with steel and nickel to make stainless steel - I don't know what chronium is.

You must mean chromium. It is a metal. Our diets need to include chromium as a trace nutrient.
