I would say 15 minutes is good service. The reason I say this is because if you're late, they really hold it against you and take the other person in front of you regardless of when your appointment was. Therefore, they should be held to the same standard: be on time within reason.

I think professional courtesy dictates that the receptionist advise you if the wait is going to be longer than 30 minutes, and offer you the chance to make another appointment. The doctors I have gone back to had such policies in place. Even the simple act of the receptionist recognizing your frustration can make all the difference. I understand emergencies and I understand that schedules can be thrown off but that is not my fault, either. My time is equally valuable, and generally I am taking precious time off a busy professional work schedule to be there on time. Professional courtesy works both ways. If I am informed, I can make an informed decision about how to best use my time: wait, or reschedule. That way the choice is mine, and I am less likely to be annoyed in general when 2 hours have gone by and I am still sitting there!

The problem is they schedule 2 if not 3 people for the same time period. I've waited 1/2 hour past appointment time in the waiting room, then they call you inside where they weigh you and take your blood pressure, mine is usually off the charts because I'm fuming from having to wait, but you wait again, before the doctor comes in. Ideally one should never have to wait more than 30 minutes

Absolutely GREAT question! I waited over an hour to see my Doctor once, after arriving 20 minutes early. I wound up being the last patient to be seen and low and behold ....they closed up shop and wanted me to come back the next day!!!! I threw such a fit, they actually called security to ask me to leave. Is not our time as valuable as theirs? Does anyone wait for you when the plane takes off or the movie starts? I think not. Reserve a table at a Restaurant and see how long they hold it for you.By all rights if you have an appointment at 3:00 you should be in the examination room by 3:15. Some Doctor's actually bill you if you miss an appointment! bunch a hooey ain't it?

I have waited for a long time in both offices. But I have also worked as a secretary in a doctors office. It is never the doctors fault. If one person shows up late for an appointment, the entire day is thrown off by at least half an hour to an hour.

It depends if this Dr. or Dentist is a "specialist. If you are waiting longer than 30 min. in the "waiting" room this is either because of
A) poor scheduling
B) Dr. running late
C) some type of emergency
If your unhappy with the wait time, try speaking with the Dr. once you're in the exam room, sometimes the Dr.s aren't even aware of how long you waited!

You should have to wait in the office NO MORE than 1/2 hour and even that is pushing it.
