Because it's much easier to substitute speech for action, because self-delusion is easy as pie (eating, not making), because people think that if they go on and on about something, other people will believe what they say, rather than what they do.
Why are there so many rhetorical questions on YA, and why do I feel compelled to answer them all?

Because most people know the difference between right and wrong, good and bad. They pretend to be good when they would rather be bad. Its kind of like going to church on Sunday morning after you spent all night on Saturday with hookers, drinking and doing drugs.

It's due to all those people who read the Christian Bible. It is so full of hypocrocy that naturally people assume it is "the way" of things!
And yes as a matter of fact I HAVE read the thing... I have it currently sitting on my mythology shelf.
