Because they truly love. I would be more than thrilled to tell someone to their face that I am in love with them, if I had the chance to. Some of the answers here are ridiculous and one can see that these people have been hurt by another.
Someone said a man uses those words to get in a woman's pants. What does a woman use the words for? Especially when she knows nothing of the man in regard to his wealth, or lack thereof, his personna, or very little of anything. How about for no reason other than it just is so as it is a gift and meant to be. I truly love you........there I said it again...........~p~ + ~j~

I love you is so over used that it has become meaningless. A guy I worked with use to spend 10 minutes telling his wife how much he loved her. A year later they were divorced. It is used to get in peoples pants. I hate it when it is used in an argument. In my view it is manipulative.

Define "right mind" In today's world no one is in their right mind. When I said it to my ex-wife, I meant it. Anyone can say it, it takes a real man / woman to mean it.
