It is not a sin in Islam. However it sometimes not done by some people for periods of time, in much the same way as other pleasures are given up. Muslims have times of fasting and discipline as Christians do in Lent. I think all organized religions have some forms of self-discipline to strengthen the spirit.

Well i think it is a sin because first it makes u un healthy secondly after doing that you must first take the special bath and then only you can pray.another thing is soap is alkali so it is corrosive if you apply it often

it says in the koran that a man's "seed" (sperm) must seek an egg and not be wasted or something like that so yeah i think its a sin to them. wonder abt women though...
