Your dog can hear English and can respond to it, while illegal immigrant can’t, for one simple reason: Your dog conforms to rules. A dog is attentive to what his master states because he is, for one, grateful for the generosity that his master bestows on him. Number two, he realizes that understanding and following his master’s edicts gets him ahead in life. Finally, your dog is cognizant of the fact that by following rules he has earned the right to be called part of the family, and is therefore afforded the loyalty, love and protection he so rightly deserves.

It’s interesting how pets display greater virtue than some people. Though your question/comment may have had facetious motives, it drives home a salient point.

For the simple fact that the illegal immigrant may come from a country were english is not the first spoken language. He/She being in an illegal position cannot attend any school to learn english except picking up words in their environment until they regularise their situation.

On the contrary you have been speaking english to your dog since ever and dogs learn to communicate with their owners.

Your dog responds to it 'cause you have taught it to respond to your commands, and he's used to the sound, just as my dog is used to hearing commands and responding to words in Spanish. I bet you can't respond either if someone talks to you in a language other than English. And though it may be true that some illegal immigrants don't speak English, it's very bad of you to generalize and compare people to a dog.

I see what your saying but I dont think you should have compared a human being to a dog.

I remember one of my old schoolmates went to Venuzuela. She said that she was speaking fluent spanish within three months and by her sixth month she started to have dreams in spanish.

Im saying this to say that if she could pick up spainsh in a short time, then i know the immigrants over here could speak english in a short time too.

They just don't want to. I mean, since everything is in spanish, ATM Menus, TV Channels, Radio stations, Government forms, hell, I can't even draw out 20 bucks outt of the ATM without picking between English or Spanish instructions man!

A few months back, I was stabbed in the neck by a Mexican (The charge sheet said that he was born in an unknown state in Mexico).

The responding cop, who was with me in the hospital had told me that when the arresting officers came, this guy was playing the good ol' "No habla ingles" thing when everyone knows that he speaks and understands it.

I agree with all that are saying your dog is smarter. Your dog can be taught the rules and learns rather quickly to abide by them. Illegal immigrants don’t live by the rules of this country nor do they usually live by the rules of their “home” countries.

illegals sometimes have selective hearing and only speak and understand English when its convenient. Ran into this when we lived in Yuma. Was denied jobs because i am not bi lingual. It really sucked. Not all mind you --- some

Like I said yesterday, you are being ignorant.

Many people who are foreign born may have difficulties with english (legal immigrants)... Many illegal immigrants esp visa overstayers have excellent english skills.. so why relate your question to illegals? How do you recognize illegals?

concluding that a dog has better insight than a human being is insulting and degrading. Do you admit that becoz mexican dogs can "understand" spanish they are of higher esteem than you?
