I have never had the urge to eat seafood in my first 20 years. I am moving down south in which a huge part of the culture is seafood. I almost feel obliged to start eating this diet. Whats some seafood i can eat that will draw me in and not gross me out? They have such an obsession with crab down in louisiana, whats the best way to eat crab? thanks for your replies!

Boiled or Grilled -- Start with Salmon -- it has a mild taste. I've had crab legs boiled and also had them grilled -- it depends ... both of those ways are good, and with a little melted butter (dip the meat in it -- you will need to crack the shell), it tastes great.

Ugh, I grew up in the South and I've never eaten seafood and I never will. It totally grosses me out and I freak out if a little gets in my mouth by accident--that texture! That smell! Oh, God, it's horrible! There are plenty of other things to eat down there. I think I might be allergic to seafood, actually--I have the same reaction to it as I do raw tomatoes, and I know I'm allergic to tomatoes.

If I'm eating gumbo or stirfry or something with seafood in it, I pick it out, and you can, too. Chefs love a challenge, and they won't mind whipping up some fish (which I do eat, just not crustaceans and shellfish) or something else if you don't want seafood. I mean, try it if you want, but don't feel obligated to eat something you don't want--I've never gotten any grief about my seafood avoidance. Of course, if you're eating in a home with, say, old people who are easily offended and don't understand your preferences, just gag it down or find a handy pet to slip the seafood to.

Avoiding food makes you creative and sneaky and is perfect practice for your international spying career. Or was that *my* international spying career? Yes, I was the one who wanted to be Jane Bond, 007. A vodka martini with no green olive (yuck) and no seafood. Perfect.

Start with a shrimp cocktail. If you have a really good sauce with it you may really like it.
