Sorry to be a bit gross but what's the point in eating sweetcorn (either corn on the cob or from a tin) when it comes out the same shape & size it went in? Does it have contain any calories because seriously what's the point when it's not digested!! How can it be nutritious?

I do chew, I find the kernals to difficult to just swallow! Does anyone else eat corn on the cob in a type-writer fashion? Like from one end to the other and then back to the other end again?!

You are an odd breed of nit-picker, aren't you? What comes out is called roughage. Look it up.
A lot of things come out in the same shape and size as they went in. Some are very good for you, some are not. The judgment is based on other factors. I'd like to expand on the subject, and the varied uses for a vegetable, but this is a family forum.

Um...it feels substantial, so you're full and don't eat worse things. And your body does get something from it (not as much as other grains, but it get some things.) And it, well, cleans you out.
Plus I grew up on it. If you ate it the way we did at the Zellwood Sweet Corn Festival, in Central Florida, you'd know the real point was the combination of butter, salt, and sugar with it! :-)

Because corn is delicious. And it does have calories--sorry, but it does.
If you're fretting about nutrition, eat hominy (pozole) or grits. They've been soaked in alkali to loosen up the niacin and make the corn more nutritious.

Its whatever people like the taste of. Can think of more controversial things like caviar, olives, oysters; all needing an aquired taste. Sweetcorn is quite nice with green peas, real butter and pepper.

You have to chew the corn and the point is that to some people it tastes good.

You could try chewing the corn before you swallow it. It might help some.
