I didn't notice my cat (JAC) sleeping underneath my truck and today I backed over her and killed her instantly. I'm so sad and feel sick to my stomach. It's like I lost a member of my family. Can any of you relate?
I know that men aren't supposed to be sentimental but I cried like a baby as I layed my sweet kittie to rest!
You people that dislike cats.....PLEASE, no smart remaks. JAC was part of my life for over 16 years and there's nothing funny about any of this!
Thanks to all and any of you for allowing me to share my tragic day with you and letting me share my grief.

A special heartfelt "THANKS" to all of you for the kind words! The sad part is, I own a digital camera but never took the time to take any pics of JAC.
*Don't make the same mistake I did.....get a camera and take some pics of you pets.*

My cat's name is Gracie also!! I've had her for 18 years. She's getting ill lately, and uncoordinated.
I dread losing her. I lost both my parents within 2 months of each other in 2003. I thought it would kill me, but I got through it.
I know people cringe when you compare a pet's death to losing family members, but, sorry, we do bond with our pets. They are part of our daily lives and they provide comfort and warmth and love. When I lose Gracie, it's going to be bad for a while. I won't be able to think about replacing her for some time after. But it will happen.
I'm sorry you lost your cat. Try not to blame yourself. It was not intentional. Remember the good times you had with her and give yourself time.

There is nothing I can add to what all the other people who love their pets have already said. I have lost many cats over the years and have cried over every one of them. I had two cats who lived to rhe ripe old age of 36 yrs and I still miss them. I cannot understand those people who think that their pets are as replaceable as a broken toy. Our pets hold a very special and dear place in our hearts. Each is unique and irreplaceable. Yes, you can get another cat, and you will love it as well, but you will always have a separate pocket of love for the one who is gone. An aside for Jennifer, your case is truly tragic as well. I will refrain from comment on what kind of a man would do something like that.

I can sooo relate! I am 20 yrs old and i had my cat for 19 yrs! He was so smart. He could even open doors and turn on the water. He got a tumor a few months ago and when we took him to the vet they said it was nothing. It wasn't cancer or anything. They couldv'e removed it but they didn't have to. So we just left it alone. I live with my parents and one day i went looking for him and couldn't find him for the next two days. I saw my other cat outside and my dad kicked at her and was ike i'll shoot you too. I was like what did you say!!!?? And he admitted to me that he drove my cat to work in the back of a pickup truck inside of a cooler and let him out to run, shot him with a shot gun and threw him on a junk pile...what a nice thought. I was heartbroken. I know how it feels. Only time will help...Good Luck!!!!

I think I'm gonna cry right now! I have 5 beautiful cats and I don't know what I would do without them. I am so sorry for your loss. I wish there was something I could do. Your kitty will always be there for in spirit. Here is a hug (( )). Poor JAC!

My friend ran over his cat exactly the same way, the cat lived through it the first time, but then it happened again and the cat had to be put to sleep. It was really sad and my friend was pretty upset over the whole thing. Don't worry about crying over it either, when my dog died I cried my eyes out. It's sad, you cry, no shame in that, losing a pet is like losing a member of your family.

My tears are just flowing right now. 3 weeks ago yesterday I had to put my kitty down of 16 years. It broke my heart so I know where you are coming from. She was like my daughter. She was always there.
About 15 years ago I ran over our kitten I was sick for a long time because of that. My son still to this day will not let me live it down.
My prayers and thoughts go out to you. And I am so sorry for your lost.

I am SO sorry for your loss. I have two kitties and I can only imagine how hard it is for you right now. A year ago we had to put our beloved dog to sleep after 14 years of companionship. I know it's not the same situation, but I can certainly relate to the sadness and the pit in your stomach.
Once again, you have my sympathy.
Take care.

I can't even imagine how you're feeling right now. Cats make such good friends and companions. They give us unconditional love, they fit into our lives as part of the family (In my case - they're my kids)
And there's nothing wrong with a man being sentimental (too many don't know how to be at all)
Your feeling of guilt is what's killing you right now and I'm not sure of a good way to deal with it. But good luck and hang in there.

Time is a great healer! Focus on the positive life you had with JAC. Something you can do is make a little scrapbook of memories, poems and pictures about your cat. You can enjoy it over and over again.
