Preschool starts from 2 to 3 years old. They are basically learning how to be in school. How to sit down for a period of time, how to walk in a line, how to share along with shapes, colors and so on. In Pre-K they are learning how to get ready for kindergarten which is a little more complex and is like real school like basic reading, writing, how to count etc. It doesn't matter because your child will go in preschool and pre-k. As far as daycare, it depends on the teacher. Are you seeing things at home that shows that she is learning, like do she know a few colors etc. this age is OK if she in not cause you can teach her at home. In my class, I taught my students their colors, shapes and had them tracing their name so it all depend on the teacher and how far the students can go.

It depends on the school. Not all schools have Pre-K.

Ages 2 1/2- 4 are in Preschool if the daycare that they attend is not in their future elementary school. 4 year olds go to Pre-K if their school has it. 5 year olds go to Kindergarten.

Here in my town, they are basically the same thing. The preschool program is for kids 2-5 - the Pre-K program is offered to mainly 4 year olds (there are some 3 year olds - but only if space prevails) and is a pre-kindergarten program to get them ready for all day kindergarten. I never sent my kids to Preschool - I just sent them to Pre-K... I was very satisfied.

Same thing, different names. There's no reason for her to change schools based on that.

The same way that in some areas of the country, grades 6-8 are called middle school and other areas call it junior high, but they're the same regardless. It's another on the ever-growing list of those regional differences.

It depends on the center they go to.

in my son's school Preschool is for 3/4 year olds learning how to write, abc's, number, phone numbers, days of the week, season's

Pre-K is for the 5 year olds-- working on phonics, simple math skills, focusing on writing etc

I think so because Preschool is before school and Pre-K is before kindergarden(sorry about my spelling)which is about the same.
