If using WILD rabbit, do not eat them in months that have an R in their name. That leaves May-August. There's something called rabbit fever that crops up in the other months and it can be deadly.
A lot of people died during the Depression from rabbit fever because they didn't know this. That's why folks who were alive during the Depression would just as soon not eat rabbit.

Not too much longer after he has stopped kicking start a timer after one hour his skin and fur will come off easier. You will also need to strain the soup for the rabbit droppings. As his bowels will let go when he dies. Also serve with tooth picks for the hair that comes off.

next time slam him in the back of the head w/ a piece of firewood first - he won't kick at all, boil him first w/o veggies, then you can drain the fur ( you'll want to gut him too - nasty to have all the intestinal stuff in the pot) and then reboil w/ the veggies - much tastier that way.

When cooking rabbits or kangaroos i always take out the hops to make beer.
If you're into home brewing i recommend doing this.

For serious, try rabbit stew. Best you'll ever eat, and don't let anyone tell you it tastes like chicken.
