Sad news from wbaonline:

Don't know if you speak Spanish but the bottom line is he lost everything (out of $8 million) and is in a mental hospital for boxing dementia. Shame for this to happen to anyone, he was a decent champ.

The article's about 2 years old.

He won the WBC Junior Welterweight tile when he was 17 years old in 1976 from Antonio Cervantez. Beat Carlos Palimino for the WBC Welterweight title and became a triple crown champion by defeated and knocking out Maurice Hope for the WBC Junior Middleweight crown. Suffered from diabetes which limited his training and if it wasn't for this I'm sure he would have beaten Haggler for the Middleweight crown. Extremely talented man. Definitely a great Puerto Rican fighter.

I don't think things turned out very well for him. Go onto the Boxrec site, they may have a short history. Or just google his name - something will come up.
