The system is definitely geared for the house to win, no question. But it is the lure of easy money that gets you in and someone with an addictive personality does actually get a high. Literally hormones are released into the brain. So if someone has had a problem with any substance they will probably get addicted to gambling. Not a fun thing to watch. It is best to never start as you never know if it will effect you. Never gamble what you can't afford to lose, and you will lose. So you are spot on girl! Thank you for playing. :-)

Gambling to a gambler is their way of getting entertainment that they enjoy. When you look at different things that people do, some people criticize others for gambling with out taking a look at their own bad habits first.
Almost everyone does something that may be criticized by others, but we should all first take a look at our own bad habits first before criticizing others.
How about those in the United States and Canada that are overweight, those that smoke, those that drink to much as well as those that use drugs. These people are a cost to society as they may require medical care at sometime in life due to their habits.
Then there are those that may do things what are dangerous such as sky diving, driving excessively fast as well as talking on the cell phone while driving and not paying attention.
Do not worry about what people get out of gambling, people should worry more about themselves and their habits rather than the habits of others.

Let's take a simple example: The lottery. Almost everyone loses, but the money made goes to a worthy cause. Then some people win millions, and if they are intelligent this money changes their lives for the better. To claim that all gamblers lose is just stupid, some people like pro poker players make a fortune.

I'm not speaking from experience, but I think it's probably a huge rush with the riskiness of it and then an increadible high when you win. Then, just like a drug, if you lose, you lose that high & will keep trying to get it back by betting again and again. That's why it's so addicting for people.

Well, I get money out of it.
Most people don't, but I win way more than I lose.
I have kept detailed records of my wins and losses, and I'm up more than $20,000 dollars in the last three years.
All you have to do is quit when you are ahead, and that goes against human nature, and that is why most people can't win like I do.

Well, poker pays for my family's mortgage, food and other living expenses. I make my living and enjoy it. I work from home and so get to be with my wife and child 24/7. That's what I get out of it...
