Well for your own sake do a little research on both.

Low carb cuts out sweets and starches. Potatoes, rice, bread all bakery items. Most all fruits, dairy except high fat or hard cheese items.

Low gi allows you to eat specific veggies and fruits that require more calories to digest that the food contains. The fruits allowed are pears apples I think cherries. Of course we love bananas and they are much to easily digested so they are not considered low GI.

Both of these eating styles need a little research to learn them. One good thing about low carb (and you do get carbs in other allowable vegetables) is that it pretty much eliminates the use of butter. And that's very good.

I did low carb..not the atkins. I simply cut my carbs to 40 grams a day and ate only whole wheat pastas and breads.

I lost 70 pounds using fitday.com to track my calories, carbs, fat and protein.

Good Luck

If you cut out most sweets, some breads, and most beef and pork, it will fall off.

Eat chicken, Lots of fish, and lots of veggies. Drink at least 5 glasses of water a day and take a multi-vitamin in the morning, stretches, crunches, whatever..

You'll lose as long as you do it. my sister lost 18 lbs in 2 months

The medical profession now shuns what were fad diets popular for a time. Get a balanced low calorie diet from a physician.
