I just had my second baby(2 1/2 wks ago) and I've been thinking about birth control for real this time. I'm not so good at takeing pills everyday or remembering at that. I was thinking about the depo shot, but I heard that it's not the best method for long time use. That it could interfere with concieveing if I use it for a long period of time. B/c I do want another baby just not for like 4 or 5 yrs. What do you think I should try or should I stick with the pill?

Intrauterine System or IUS (Mirena) – The IUS is a small T-shaped device like the IUD and is placed inside the uterus by a doctor. Each day, it releases a small amount of a hormone similar to progesterone called levonorgestrel that causes the cervical mucus to thicken so sperm cannot reach the egg. The IUS stays in your uterus for up to five years. It does not protect against STDs or HIV. The IUS is 99% effective. The Food and Drug Administration approved this method in December 2000. You will need to visit your doctor to have it inserted and to make sure you are not having any problems. Not all doctors insert the IUS so check first before making your appointment

If you want to take a pill...

I would try the Nuva ring. You insert it like a tampon and leave it there for 3 weeks. I used it for a long time. It didn't make me an emotional wreck like the pill did. Also, It's risk of stroke and blood clots, etc., is way less than the pill. I became pregnant exactly one week after stopping it.

Now that my twins are here, I'm thinking about using an IUD. It's inserted into your uterus and can be there up to 5 years. It doesn't have any health risks. That's what I like about it.

I am currently pregnant and i plan on using the depot shot. With all birth controls i have heard that it takes a little time to get pregnant, because you have had it in your system for so long. But if you have heard negative reviews on the depot shot then just use the pill. But try really hard to take it every day.
Good Luck

I'm keeping a watch on this question because I have the same problem with the pill. As for the depo shot...don't take it if you plan on conceiving soon after you get off. I didn't get pregnant until a year and a half after I did and I only took one shot!

Abstinence is best. Other than that, use two methods at once. Pills and condoms, or a diaphragm and pills. Don't excuse yourself by saying you aren't good with taking pills. If you really wanted to put off having another baby you'd find a way to remember.

You can get an IUD as long as you only have one partner. They have them for 5 years and 10 years. Best part is if you want it taken out you can get pregnant right away. You can also have a new one put in the same day you have it taken out. So it can either be permanent or not.

Mirena IUD is good for five years, no remembering pills or getting a shot, or patch or anything, just have to check your strings once a month. It's SOO wonderful I love it... I've had it for 3 years, I never have my period and I never have to worry about getting pregnant! And it's best suited to women in a relationship and who have had children already.

Are you allergic to latex? There are latex loose condoms accessible. Or are you allergic to spermicide? per chance you could attempt the condoms with out that. "Pulling out" isn't useful in any respect, and makes the entire procedure unnecessary. There are lady condoms. per chance your female friend could seem into nuva-ring. you could administration your sessions, and also you do not could be particular to take your pill on a daily basis. rigidity from concern of being pregnant will screw up anyones era agenda. She desires to come across approaches to relax, stressing about it received't replace the outcomes.

I was on depo for one year. I would not recommend it for long term. Mood swings at the end of the year were terrible. Coming off the shot was terrible. I almost hemmoraged.

They have the birth control patch now. You put one patch
on each week for four weeks and off for one.
Works just like the pill.

Talk to your OB or GP at your sex week check up.

Although, unpleasent, you could use a condom, AND birth control. If I remember health class that has a less than 2% chance of concieving.

Some women are just more fertile than others, so you may just have that curse, and need a doctor to slow that down.
