Please help me understand these confusing signals.??
Ok this girl i like sent me and email, replying to mine on asking her how she felt about me..heres what it said
hey,
well first of all, I don't hate you. second, I haven't been avoiding you either becuase its not been just swimming that I've been busy with its been life.I also haven't been beating around the bush because you never asked me if I did or not. But I haven't ever thought of being more than friends with you because we've always been good friends and I think thats how things should stay.I just don't want to ruin a friendship.hope you've had a good day, and i will talk to you later

Now, shes 13, and I'm 15. She used to be all over me, but then backed off. Her and her mom are really close, and her mom told me she want me to date her daughter, she said that she is just really scared of ruining the friendship. Now based on this email, do you think she is just scared, or do you think she is letting me down easy?

Now, my question is this. She mad it very clear, she want to be no more than friends. Is that because she is scared, or because she doesnt see me like that, because she states both in the email. If she does still like me, what should i do withouth smuthering her?

YEAH she's just scared. just give it some time. and ust because she says she doesn;t want you more than a friend doesn't mean that she doesn't like you. She probably just doesn't see you as boyfriend material. simple as that. Your are good friends with her like you said right? you should know what signals she giving. and be understanding. She just doesn't like you like that. I guess you can call it an easy turn down. But she still wants to beyour friend. She wrote you a long letter so you can get a better understanding. Unlike most girls who would just ignore the fact. Just dont bring it up around her. let stuff happen. don't pressure her. Nor think that something is wrong with you.
See us girls think about the future when we get with a guy.Like what would our kids look like? i know it sounds crazy!! .I see myself growing old with that guy? etc...hahaha trust me I do. It's nothing to get butt hurt about. And girls won;'t admit that it's that. when they turn down a guy.

edit: seems like you were smuthering her according to this statement that she made: "well first of all, I don't hate you. second, I haven't been avoiding you either becuase its not been just swimming that I've been busy with its been life.I also haven't been beating around the bush because you never asked me if I did or not. "

Well it sounds to me like she is responding to some accusations that you made to her in the original email. Like "I don't hate you" would seem like you thought she did. "I haven't been avoiding you" seems like you accused her of avoiding you. "I haven't been beating around the bush" seems like you accused her of that too.
She also said you never asked her if she liked you or not. That tells me that this is the first time you have actually asked her if she likes you and you started it off with a bunch of accusations. This put her on the defensive and made her mad. Even if she liked you she now thinks it was a bad idea because you came off by attacking her. NOT A SMART MOVE if you like someone and want them to feel comfortable enought to turn a friendship into a relationship.

If she doesn't want to be more then friends, I suggest you respect her wishes. She's only 13!!! If I were in your situation, I'd continue being friends and see how it goes from there. Don't push her into something she doesn't want to do because that would do just the thing she didn't want to do: ruin your friendship.

I think she may just value your friendship. Maybe you should try waiting a while and seeing where it goes. Don't ruin a good friendship over hopes of romance. She may have led you on, and that isn't right, but she is a teen girl (barely) and they are very conflicted sometimes. Good luck.

If u really really like her... ask her if u could just talk about it.... just ask her.... tell her that if it gets to weird then maybe stay friends. cause maybe she is just scared it wont work out. Saying that u'll just stay friends doesnt really work if u really do like her. (I would know) Ur going to want a wee bit more then just "good friends" let her know that after u acctually try and it doesnt work out that then u can be friends and laugh about it later.

She's trying to let you down easy. You should just back off. Maybe she'll change her mind.
