Purchase something called a Scat Mat. It carries a small electrical charge that is mild enough not to hurt them, but definitely provide a negative reminder to stay off. It's also good because unlike yelling, or using a water pistol/sprayer, the dog doesn't associate the reinforcement with you, and it also works when you're not home..
You can rent one for a month from eBay for around $20 (shipping included) as opposed to buying one ($60). It shouldn't take more than a couple of run ins for the dog to learn, so that's more than enough time.

You can buy a "Scat Mat" from PetEdge-www.petedge.com. They have 2 sizes & extensions. It will cost about $75.00. Then, a store called Upco-www.upco.com has an indoor radio fence that costs about $85.00. Of course, the best way is to train the dog but these things will help

There is a spray called NO. It smells horrible to them. I had a cat that liked to scratch the table legs and it cured her of the habit. Its something to try anyway.

they make a spray that is supposed to keep animals of furniture.
do not recall the name of it.
a good cheap way is to lay tinfoil on couch and chair, they don't like the feel or sound of it and will learn to stay off.
