It is safe and healthiest to lose 1% of your body weight per week. Therefore, a 5 lbs./ week loss would be ok if you are 500 lbs. .
Losing it slowly is better because it is less stressful on your body. You don't want to lose muscle mass, after all you use your muscles to burn the calories. The first week or two is just water weight so you will see a greater amount of loss when you step on the scale. Also, if you lose the weight slowly, it will give you more time to get used to your new eating and exercising patterns so that you won't put back on as fast. It's a lifestyle change, really. Also, think about what your reasons/motivations are for losing weight. Hopefully, they are VERY positive and lifegiving to YOU! Weight Watchers is absolutely the best. Try it!

Nope. It is healthy to lose around 1-3 pounds a week tops. Anything other than that, not only isn't healthy, but it isn't "real" weight loss. Most of that weight will be water weight and you will gain it back.

It really doesn't matter all you are doing is loosing water weight and within a couple of days it will be back again. The nest way to loose weight is to eat a little less and exercise.

My uncle used to say that you could crap out 5 pounds at one time! You can lose that much if you were vomiting or had diarrhea for several days.
