It would vary by the state. When I hold an auction in Oklahoma, I will send the paperwork in when the car sells, mainly because I need it out of my lot as quickly as possible. It takes from 2 weeks to several months to get the paperwork back if there are no errors in the paperwork (if there are, it starts over again).

Ask at the auction when you can expect to actually get the vehicle.
