it really depends on what you are wanting in your car... i suggest you sit down ... write down what you want in your car... then go from there... gl and dont forget to get insurance on it ... sorry not more american made autos on my list but truth is the big 3 have raped the americans economy for all those billions and now outsource to other countries closeing factories here and putting people here in unemployed catigories yeah ford... never will buy your brand again.... plus they really arent that great unless your buying the top of the line like lincolns etc

My hubby in the car business, he always says buy japanese they last. Or a vauxhall or ford as parts are cheap. Or volvo, another reliable make. Stay away from french and italian cars.
by the way I have a volvo, (never been a moments problem) previously had Nissans, same story.

Car reliability surveys suggest you need only look at :
Honda
Mazda
Nissan
Toyota
www.autotrader.co.uk -
- have many 2001 Nissan Micra cars below 60k miles for less than £2k.
Cheap to insure too.
Avoid ex driving school cars.
Good luck with your search.

It depends on your needs and tastes but you can't go wrong with Honda or Toyota. For other brands, you take a higher risk of problems and repair costs.

I believe Reaults and Toyotas have excellent safety records and run and run and run, lasting much longer than other makes.
