This past week when I was in church, I accidentally dropped mine! I was kind of embarrassed. I felt badly about it too. Have you ever seen anyone do this, or have you yourself done it?

Yes, I have seen it happen. Just calmly pick it up and put it in your mouth. The 5 second rule applies.

I am not currently a Catholic, but I was raised as one and have seen this happen. Properly, the priest should pick the host up, re-bless it, and place it back in the tabernacle. It is held there until it can be disposed of by burning or burial. This is the proper procedure for disposing of any blessed object, and is regularly used to dispose of Eucharist that has fallen, broken, staled, or is otherwise unfit for use in Communion.

If that happens, the priest is supposed to pick it up and consume it. I help with eucharistic ministering (giving the wine to people). I've never spilt any, but if it were to happen, the priest knows how to deal with it. One time I was in line though, and there were two people in front of me. One person wasn't catholic and tried to consume the host (the person in front of me told the priest), and the priest took it from him. Then the lady in front of me dropped hers. Another time, the priest was handing me the host and dropped it.

Ya, when I was a kid I dropped it once. The whole church was like...in shock. The priest came over and picked it up....you know how serious the catholics are. I also saved it my pocket one time and took it home....the things kids do!

I saw the entire dish get dropped last year. The priest pick them up and they were disposed off. Sharing in blessing is in the acknowledgment and acceptance. It is not the literal flesh but the spiritual flesh of acknowledging His sacrifice. "Do this in MEMORY of me."

No one cares. We're all human. It would be different if you threw it across the room.

Just kick it under the pew in front of you, don't eat stuff you find on the floor.
