That's like saying that the Greek, Roman and the Egyptian civilization never existed when it did. Those times were part of the history of our civilization. The stories of the Bible happened like it or not, and they reveal the story of the civilization and culture of the Jewish that started in the c. 17th century.

Why are people claiming here that the Bible is a fictitious book. Even if you don't believe in God nor Jesus, that is a very ignorant statement. You can't never erase events that truly happened in the past. History cant be repeated but it can be proved.

If you believe that those people in the Bible really existed but don't believe on the miracles that occured in the name of God, then that's your problem.

But please educate yourself on History. You can't determine what's real and what's not.

The word of God always prevail no matter how much human try to prove it wrong.

The Bible is largely fictitious and holds little value as a "history" book. Sure, people existed in "Biblical times", they may have even done a few of those things written in the Bible, but the Bible was not written to be taken as a literal account of actual events. Some writings attempt to record things Jesus did decades after his death. They are just stories with a minor basis in the actual society of the times. Some clues can be found in the Bible regarding actual places and events, but this is very minimal. The best thing that we gain from the Bible are insights into the prevailing thought, custom, and society of the time, though obviously from a biased perspective.

I have never said the bible is a work of pure fiction. I think there is historical fact in there but I also feel that in 2000 yrs a lot of people have had a chance to change things within it making what is true history and what is fallacy hard to distinguish.

I agree, the same for The Holy Koran, The Upanishades, and the stories passed down by the Native peoples from the Great Spirit

History books are written with proven information. The bible was written by a few mens account of what they experienced or felt. THere is no proven evidence to make what they wrote as what really happened. Also if you read your bible you will notice that in the New Testament that Matthew , Mark and Luke all had different accounts as to what happened. And in Acts 10:39 it says that Jesus was put to death by hanging him on a tree. The bible also teaches people to be cannibals. John 6:53. It also makes it seem that having slaves is a good thing. Then there is Abraham who actually was one of gods favorites supposedly yet old abe pimped his wife off 2 or 3 times. Thats how he became so rich. I suggest that you sit down and really read the bible word for word and take notes and at the end compare your notes. Also it is said that Moses wrote the first few chapters of the bible. He wasnt around to know what people might of been thinking or feeling. Like any story that is written it is written as how the writer sees and feels things or the way he thinks things happened. What real hard factual evidence is there to prove what these men wrote is what happened? Everyone is intitled to thier own opinion and if they do or dont believe in the bible it doesnt make them right or wrong. And trust me I am educated and continue to educate myself daily. I did sit down and read the bible word for word from the start to the end and in doing so completley changed my opinion of what I had been taught since I was little. The bible teaches that women are less than dirt it instructs people to give and give to the churches it gives people false hopes by saying by being a true believer the person will never die and will be taken care of, yet these people get sick and die and suffer. It also showed me just what an evil person God would have to be to sit there and allow children to starve to death by the thousands and not lifting a finger to maybe send alittle rain yet he created everything out of nothing it tells people to stone their children to death if they are unruley and just how blood thirsty he must be since even tho the whole world was emply it tells how Moses and his followers were instructed by God to go into cities and kill everyone including the women and children but they could keep any virgins and these people before hand were hurting noone and going about thier lives tring to survive and were killed for thier land. Every serial killer has done his killings behind religion and every war has been started behind religion and beliefs too. IF everyone were to go to bed tonight and wake up having religion totally wiped out of thier minds all the killings would stop and there would be no more wars. Moses started this whole thing because he was a great scam artist and figured out a way so he and his family could live without working and would live off of what the people would bring as per instructions given to them by moses supposedly from God. Why wouldnt of god had Adam and Eve building churches and giving sacrafices. And why wouldnt everyone of known about God if we all came from the the original pair? The first people didnt have much to talk about so they would of definitely talked about God and how everything started and handed down these stories throughout the generations. But it didnt happen like that now did it. Because the Asians have Budda and people living in Jungles have thier gods and the indians have thier sun god etc. They believe in mother nature you could say. It is great if you find that believing in the bible comforts you but it isnt right for you to say people need to educate themselves if they dont. The bible to me is one big scam scaring people to give give give to the churches . If god says that people shouldnt worry about riches then why would he want so much stored away in the churches. I have seen people give and give and give and pray and pray and believe with all thier hearts and yet they still have gotten sick and some died. If you dont believe that churches are a big business then do some investigating and you will find that the presbytrian churches are one of the biggest stock holders of microsoft. And all those profits are going where. Certainly not back to those that gave the money on sundays. That is not my opinion either thats a fact. I dont put you down for believing or anyone else and you have every right to believe in what you want to believe in but dont put others down if they dont.

I just read a story that takes place in Botswana (a real place). It involves a detective (a real occupation) who's solving a case in 2005 (a real year). The detective is a woman (yes, women DO exist) who is very smart (even those do exist). She solved the crime (it happens in the real world) and the criminal went to jail (also a real place).

But you know what? IT WAS STILL FICTION. (Can you see the problem with your logic?)

Even fiction can have some truth in it. I believe Jesus existed, but I don't believe he was the son of any god. He was probably just one of the many different so called "prophets" who existed at the time. He just got really lucky as far as followers went.

Nobody is saying Biblical times are fake we're saying the things written in the Bible are fake. That's like saying we don't exist because someone says Harry Potter is a fictional book.

God you're an IDIOT.

Total and unabashed ignorance!! Can't prove it wrong so just say it does not exist or that it is not true, just like the genocide of Hitler.

some people do not want to say that the bible is true. that would be like saying that the world is wrong in everything. they do not want to give up control and that scares them that people say God exists.
